A Pair of Louis XV Ormolu Chinoiserie Chenets
In Gilded bronze, each in the shape of a Chinoiserie figure, one male holding a parrot, the other female holding a dog, raised on asymmetrical base decorated with scrolls and acanthus leaves.
On August 23rd 1756, Lazare Duvaux sold to Mme La Marquise de la Ferriere “Un Petit feu d”or moulu compose de figures Chinoises avec ses garnitures de pelles et princettes. This description is clearly too vague and could be referring to any Chinoiserie chenets with figures.
An almost Identical pair but slightly larger are Illustrated in the Wrightsman Collection Volume II Ref 190
