A Very Fine Pair of George III Mahogany Card Tables Attributed to Thomas Chippendale
The attribution to Thomas Chippendale is based upon the parquetry tops which are almost identical to the central door on the breakfront bookcase at Dumfries house. Another feature which points to the Chippendale workshop is the very fine beading around the acanthus leaves on the top of the legs. In Christopher Gilbert book “The life and work of Thomas Chippendale” Page 255 Illustration 466 and 467, he illustrates a tea table with its drawing that is at Harewood House and has the same very fine carved beading.
