Roger Van Der Cruise known as Lacroix or RVLC, Maître in 1755

RVLC is best known for his elegant production of works in the Transitional style of 1760 - 70. Related by marriage to both Jean-Francois Oeben and Jean Henri Riesener, he worked in the early years of his career both with Oeben and Gilles Joubert, often on commissions for the Garde Meuble Royal, as well as extensively with the Marchand-Mercier Simon-Phillipe Poirier. His work can be seen in all the best Museums, The Louvre, Chateau de Versailles, The Victoria and Albert Museum, The Wallace Collection, Waddesdon Manor, The Getty Museum, The Frick Museum and The Metropolitan Museum in New York to name just a few.

 

A very Similar table is Illustrated in Pierre Kjellberg, Le Mobilier Francais du XVIII Siecle p.757. Another one was sold anonymously Sotheby’s London 8 December 1995 Lot 213 for £54,300
